We are currently looking for an Internal Auditor who will be responsible for executing risk-based internal audits according to the audit plan and assisting with other audit-related matters and projects. This position reports operationally to the EHOD (Executive Head of Department) of Internal Audit and administratively to the FD (Financial Director).
Key Accountabilities:
- Plan and execute risk-based financial, operational, and compliance audit tests according to the audit plan and program.
- Build strong relationships with business unit personnel to ensure their understanding and acceptance of internal audit requirements, approach, and reporting methods.
- Identify, develop, and document audit issues and recommendations using independent judgment in the areas being reviewed.
- Provide insightful results through the audit reporting process.
- Utilize data analytics in the audit approach to enhance assurance, quality of insights, and audit efficiency. Recommend and implement ideas for improving the Internal Audit Department.
- Manage audits and team members when assigned as a team leader on the audit.
- Assist in special projects and investigations as needed.
- Stay updated on the latest technology in the field of internal audit.
- Be the Vodacom Group Internal Audit liaison and lead the development of best practices for Financial Services audits.
- Maintain strong relationships with Financial Services Partners (audit teams, auditees, management, external advisors, etc.) across the organization to understand issues and identify areas for improvement in the control environment.
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, finance, law, or related field.
- Knowledge of Internal Controls Systems and Standards.
- Experience in financial services and working with central banks and other relevant institutions.
- 3-5 years of internal or external auditing experience (essential).
- Excellent English communication, report writing, presentation, negotiation, and conflict management skills to interact effectively with senior management.
- Analytical, creative, and independent thinking ability.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills, including multitasking and prioritization in a changing environment.
- Experience in data analytics (scoping, delivering, and/or consuming) using tools such as PowerBI or QlikSense.
- General IT Controls experience (advantage).
- Proficiency in working with audit software and the Microsoft Office365 suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
- Experience working in complex multinational and/or multicultural environments.
- Willingness to travel when needed.
- Ability to adapt to hybrid working (home/office balance), subject to changes based on company policies/post-pandemic environment.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree (essential).
- Professional certifications such as CIA, ACA/CIMA/ACCA/MBA/Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) (essential).
- Experience in auditing within the telecommunications industry (advantage).
- Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements.
